This is a beautifully written article. You approach a topic many people would assume the answer to (trans people should disclose) and elegantly poke a giant hole in it, by vulnerably sharing about your own past. One would hope in ones most intimate relationships we would want to share the depths of our experiences with each other, but there is often a potential cost to it, given the judgemental and prejudice nature of our society, so it’s truly understandable why people wouldn’t. And in truth, the important thing is who we are today — it’s in large part because of what we’ve been through and who we were, but that is no longer who we are.
If we are going to say that there are things we are obligated to disclose, we better get out a very, very long sheet of paper and make a list. And then decide who gets to make that list and what’s on it…
