Thank you for this thought provoking article. I certainly understand complex feelings about it all, but I want to add that most of the time these days (since we dont all just grow up and marry in our own tiny communities) often means navigating gender, socioeconomics, education level, country/region of origin, politics, religion (or lack thereof), ability, and many, many other differences that can create power differentials and certainly challenges in a relationship.
So I think the question of whether or not we should date outside of sameness to avoid history or power is truly outdated. The question should be, imho, how do we navigate these difference.
