oh I think perhaps I didn't make myself clear. Perpetrators of violence should absolutely be held accountable. I only was commenting that misogyny exists within a larger system of violence and oppression that also perpetuates racism, homophobia, ableism, etc I was actually thinking that some men who were commenting might have also been victims, not perpetrators making an excuse.

I believe those comments were inappropriate, by the way. They missed the point. I was only wondering if it was, for some of them, coming from a place of trauma and speaking about their own experience (which is not the forum to do so, just perhaps they were triggered by the video). Just a thought. Hope that clarifies.
