I think the issue is that our diagnoses are simply a cluster of symptoms (that, horribly, have become stigmatized) vs based in etiology. If they were linked, then we wouldn’t have issue with diagnoses, if they were accurate and led to appropriate and helpful treatment.

(Also, there are other differences besides an unstable sense of self, but yes, personality disorders are trauma based. As are many if not most disorders, right? Again, linking etiology and treatment to diagnoses is the direction, I believe, we need to go)
