I do know what you mean by code switching — it’s part of what women complain about re “mansplaining,” right? I have no doubt you are highly sensitive to it and aware of it… and also aware of the confusion that can arise from people who are more comfortable speaking in the binary (one way to men, another way to women) conversing with atypical gendered folks. I am hopeful with so much conversation about gender these days, and space being made for people who don”t feel they fit in the binary, that much if not all of that conditioning will eventually fall by the wayside.
